Italian Cookery School (Bologna, Italy)
27 May - 2 June 2012

Fare Short Trips to Italy are designed to share amazing experiences that have only been discovered through returning to Italy time and time again and by knowing and working with people who live in these towns. We will handpick the ingredients to make this trip a pleasurable experience.

Region: Emilia Romagna

Town: Bologna

Experience: 5 day Italian cooking school in Bologna, Italy

Bologna is truly a hidden Etruscan beauty. Home to Europe’s oldest university and several language and cultural schools it has a vibrant cosmopolitan atmosphere without being ‘touristy’.

Enjoy the experience of strolling through the beautiful food markets of Bologna and learn a little Italian along the way.

Accompanied by your guide, Deborah and a wonderful Italian chef we will hand pick the fresh ingredients needed to create an authentic lunch to be enjoyed with wine.

The cookery school aims to teach you a repertoire of delicious & regional recipes from all over Italy and to give you a little insight in to the many Italian wines available.

The cookery classes are very hands on with experienced cooks and beginners welcome.

You will learn how to make fresh pasta from scratch, a hands on experience teaching how to make the dough, roll and cut to create an array of pasta, both long and filled. You will create and cook many dishes to include antipasto, meat, chicken, fish and desserts.

Afternoons will be free to siesta, shop or explore the medieval centre of Bologna.

The Bolognese enjoy ‘Aperitivo’ an Italian tradition involving pre dinner drinks and canapés.

Around 5pm the people of Bologna fill the many bars to socialize, relax and enjoy a glass of wine with a delicious selection of regional antipasti.

Evenings may be spent dining in one of Bologna’s fine restaurants to sample excellent Emilian cuisine for which the city is renowned. The region is renowned for fresh produce such as parma ham, parmesan and handmade egg pasta. There are many places to visit, easily accessible from Bologna only a short train trip away.

Price: $4900 per person includes 7 nights hotel accommodation including single room supplement, daily breakfast, 5 cooking days followed by a daily sit down lunch with Italian wine, presentation folder with all recipes, dinner at a local restaurant, scheduled trips to local produce markets, wine tasting excursion and your personal assistant and guide Deborah to assist you with your Italian experience.
